New parking arrangements are now in place at McAnany Avenue, alongside updated facilities at Temple Park.
From today (Monday 15 June), pay and display parking is now fully operational at McAnany Avenue car park and on-street bays. Charges apply seven days a week, from 8am to 8pm, at £1 per hour, or £4 for all-day parking.
The new parking provision has been introduced to help address ongoing parking issues in the Harton Moor area, where long-stay parking has limited availability for visitors. The pricing has been set to provide an affordable alternative, particularly for those visiting the hospital, as well as nearby facilities.
The McAnany Avenue car park has also been improved, with cleansing works undertaken to remove weeds and overgrown shrubs.
Councillor Karen Pittuck, Lead Member for Highways, Neighbourhoods and Community Safety, said: “These changes are about managing parking more effectively and making sure spaces are available for those who need them.
“At McAnany Avenue, the new arrangements will help address ongoing parking pressures in the area, supporting better access for visitors to the hospital, while keeping costs at an affordable level.”
In addition, new payment machines have been installed at Temple Park car park, which is now fully operational with updated facilities.
While parking charges have always applied at Temple Park, the new machines and updated signage form part of recent improvements to the site. Prior to this, payment was managed at the leisure centre kiosk following damage to the previous machine.
Parking charges at Temple Park remain at £1 all day, with hours of operation set at 7.30am to 10pm from Sunday to Friday and 7.30am to 6pm on Saturdays.
Both locations operate a cashless system, with card-only machines and the option to pay using the PayByPhone app, helping to improve reliability and reduce the risk of theft and damage.
Councillor Pittuck added: “At Temple Park, the new machines replace the previous system and provide a more consistent way for people to pay when using the car park. Moving towards cashless systems also helps to improve the reliability and security of our parking services.”
Residents and visitors are advised to check local signage when parking.
